BOOKS ARE THE BEGINNING

I am truly excited about supporting a project initiated by my good friends Mike and Mary Thrasher.
"BOOKS ARE THE BEGINNING" is a non profit outreach introducing the gift of reading to Third World nations.
Since 2006, Mike and Mary have sacrificed countless hours on several trips to Africa, delivering thousands of books, learning materials, and medical supplies to improve the lives of impoverished children in desperate need of education.

In July 2009, this generous couple led a team to Lulwanda Children’s Home, an orphanage in Mbale, Uganda to build a library.
You can imagine the monumental task of shipping 4000 books, dozens of desks and filing cabinets, building materials, and tools (not to mention the team) across the Atlantic Ocean to fulfill the vision of teaching kids to read.

It's something we take for granted, but a book can literally change a child's life.
Click here to visit "Books are the Beginning" and please consider supporting this worthwhile effort!
Thanks;
.EF Clark

  1. I definitely take this for granted. We have books so easily at our disposal. I don't even have to leave my house to get the one I want anymore. I can order it on amazon, on half.com, etc. We get them free at the library each week. We browse through them at bookstores. Books are everywhere. Thanks for the chilling reminder of how important a single book can be. I'm wandering over to that site now.
