Homefront
It seems so far away, now that I'm here with you, safe and unscathed.
I couldn't explain in the letters I wrote, but I am more certain now than I was then, it was you that kept me alive. Not just protected from fleshly wounds, but alive . . . in my soul.
On those distant fields, we exchanged vengeance with such great fury that it seemed all life would slide down thru the craggily, broken earth into the very pit of hell.
Never could I have imagined such ugliness existed had I not seen it with my own eyes.
It might have convinced me that my life had slipped away, if I were not gazing at you tonight, the splendor of your beauty in such . . . striking contrast . . .

The Life Within
The Life Within
The outer shell where I exist?
They only see what they believe
But when they scrutinize
with natural eyes
tis not what they perceive
The beauty of the skin
masquerades the life within
that no one else can see,
sometimes not even me
The allure of the shell could never compare
to the invisible glory of the heart
Deep inside, locked away somewhere;
I am free in the deepest part . . .
